CONTEST RULES-DISTCO 2009 - OFFICIAL WEB SITE OF DIGITAL STORYTELLING CONTEST

PARTICIPANTS:

The DISTCO 2009 will be open for

1- Elementary Students (Grades K-5),

2-Junior Students (Grades 6-8),

3-Senior Students (Grades 9-12),

4- K-12 Teachers.

at both National and International levels. Please note that international entries will be evaluated in a different category.

DEADLINE:

The website will be accepting videos for submission starting from December 7, 2009 until February 5, 2010. SST and Harmony Schools have a different deadline. Please see this flyer for more info.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS AND FEES:

There is no fee involved for particating in DISTCO 2009, however student participants are required to fill out DISTCO 2009-Entry and Consent Form for Students and fax it to 210-822-3422 or email scanned form distco@ssttx.org in order for their video submissions to be considered for judging in the competition. No fees or consent forms are involved for Teacher participants.

NUMBER OF SUBMISSIONS:

Please note that the DISTCO 2009 will accept up to 3 different entries from Student entrants and unlimited number of entries from Teachers participants until the submission deadline.

SUBJECT:

A digital story can be prepared in following 12 categories:

DIGITAL STORY FORMAT:

Digital Story should at least include following items:

1-An original script or a story

2-Multimedia elements such as images and sounds. Video Clips are not required.

3-A narration, preferebly a voice over by the author.

VIDEO SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

DISTCO 2009 recommends PhotoStory 3 for creating Digital Stories. Download Photo Story 3 for free if you have a genuine copy of Windows XP or Vista.

1-Video file size should not exceed 10 MB.

2-Video lengths should not be more than 8 minutes.

3-For best results, your video display size should not be less than (640x480). Please see Project Saving Instructions in PhotoStory3 for saving your project in Photo Story 3.

4-Video file format should be Windows Media Video (.wmv)

Please submit your video here. When uploading your file, please be patient as longer and bigger files in size might take 2-3 minutes to upload to the system.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Digital Stories should be original work and not to be copied from any other person or person's work.
